Tuesday 9th August 2005: Ålesund, Norway
After a further night "cruising to nowhere" off the Norwegian coast,
QE2
berthed at Ålesund at 8:00am.
QE2
left Ålesund at 18:00hrs and proceeded north to Trondheim. Ålesund was destroyed by fire in 1904, and was rebuilt in Art Nouveau style within a few years. Many attractive buildings from this period remain in the old town.

Wednesday 10th August 2005: Trondheim, Norway
QE2
berthed at Trondheim at 9:00am.
QE2
was due to leave Trondheim at 17:00hrs, but despite the assistance of three tugs, she could not be pulled away from the berth due to high winds. A fourth tug was summoned, which did not arrive until after 23:00hrs, and
QE2
eventually departed after midnight. Having passed through Trondheim Fjord to the open sea, she proceeded at over 28 knots south to Bergen.
