Discovery
(Voyages of Discovery: 2003- )
Island Princess
was one of two sisters completed in 1971 for Flagship Cruises as
Sea Venture
and
Island Venture
. Flagship Cruises was a Norwegian company
set up by established lines Lorentzen, Fearnley & Eger etc. They were sold to P&O, for their recently acquired Princess subsidiary, in 1974. Flagship Cruises then bought the
Kungsholm
, which was also, in turn, sold to P&O.
Island Venture
was renamed
Island Princess
in the Princess fleet, and served with them from 1974-2000. She was then sold to Korean interests as the
Hyundai Pungak
. In 2003 she was acquired by UK-based
Voyages of Discovery
, who renamed her
Discovery
.

Brightlingsea
Brightlingsea
returned to service at Harwich in
2007
, and began her
2008
season in May - for details of cruises and charters see -
www.msbrightlingsea.com
Brightlingsea
was built for the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) in 1925, and operated on the ferry from Harwich to Felixstowe until 1993, when Felixstowe dock basin was closed to the public. She continued running harbour trips for a few more years until she was withdrawn.
Brightlingsea
was bought by her current owners in 2002, who commenced restoration. She appeared at the Woodbridge Maritime Festival in September 2006, and was advertised for diner cruises on the River Deben later that year.
On 12th August 2007
Brightlingsea
resumed harbour cruises from Harwich Halfpenny Pier, being featured on Anglia TV. The 90 minute cruise costs £12 and sails from the ferry pontoon, Halfpenny Pier, at Harwich. The tour sails out towards Languard Point, turning back to pass close along the container terminals at Felixstowe, before turning again in the River Orwell to round Shotley Point and sail towards Harwich International Port (previously Parkeston Quay) and finally back to Halfpenny Pier.
