Voyages of Discovery Cruise Ship Postcards



This page is devoted to postcards and photographs of new UK cruise line Voyages of Discovery. Voyages of Discovery have been offering cruises on other ships since 1984, but in 2003 they have their first exclusive ship, the Discovery, previously Princess Cruises' Island Princess. Voyages of Discovery have offered an interesting programme of UK-based cruises in their first season, similar to those offered by Fred Olsen, Saga Cruises and P&O.

Discovery Postcards of Discovery
Voyages of Discovery's first exclusive ship is the Discovery, previously Princess Cruises' Island Princess.

Island Princess was one of two sisters completed in 1971 for Flagship Cruises as Sea Venture and Island Venture. Flagship Cruises was a Norwegian company set up by established lines Lorentzen, Fearnley & Eger etc. They were sold to P&O, for their recently acquired Princess subsidiary, in 1974. Flagship Cruises then bought the Kungsholm, which was also, in turn, sold to P&O. Island Venture was renamed Island Princess in the Princess fleet, and served with them from 1974-2000. She was then sold to Korean interests as the Hyundai Pungak. In 2003 she was acquired by UK-based Voyages of Discovery, who renamed her Discovery.
