Gelting (1975-88)

Gelting was originally built in 1963 at Orenstein-Koppel und Lübecker Machinenbau, Lübeck for Sundbusserne A/S, Helsingør, Denmark. Before entering service, she was sold to Moltzau Line A/S, Gedser, Denmark, entering service in 1963 between Gedser and Travemünde as the Gedser. She had a sistership Travemünde. In 1968 Gedser was sold to Juelsminde-Kalundborg Linien A/S, Kalundborg, as the Mille (I). In 1969 she was chartered to Lion Ferry for service between Grenå and Varberg. In 1970 ownership passed to Jydsk Færgefart A/S, Kalundborg. Mille (I) was sold to Nordisk Faergefart A/S, Faaborg, Denmark in 1975, for use between Gelting and Faaborg as the Gelting. She was replaced by newer tonnage and chartered out for various services, including previous owners Jydsk Færgefart, until sold to Consolidada de Ferry Ca, Caracas, Venezuela in 1988. She was sold for breaking up in 2002.

Gelting Nord (1981-91)

Apollo (II) was the first of a series of six similar ships delivered to Viking Line partners by the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg (a further three ships were delivered to a Mexican company). Apollo (II) carried 1200 passengers and 260 cars. She served on the Kapellskär-Mariehamn-Naantali route, but was sold after only six years to Ole Lauritzen in 1976 for use on his Sheerness-Vlissingen service of Olau Line. Olau Line was sold to TT-Line in 1978, but Olau Kent remained in Lauritzen ownership, and was chartered to Olau Line. In 1980 she was arrested due to debts accrued by owner Ole Lauritzen's subsequent failed Dunkerque-Ramsgate service. Olau Kent was purchased by Nordisk Faergefart in 1981, for use on their Fåborg-Gelting service as Gelting Nord. In 1982, she was transferred to a new service between Hundested (Denmark) and Sandefjord (Norway). This service was terminated in 1984 when a charter was obtained for Gelting Nord from Brittany Ferries, who renamed her Benodet. She was sold to Estline in 1991, returning to original name Apollo (II).

Gelting Syd (1981-99)

Gelting Syd was originally built in 1974 by Jos L Meyer, Ems Papenburg, as the Stella Scarlett, for Skandinavisk Linjetrafik, part of Scandinavian Ferry Lines. She was used on a route from Landskrona to Copenhagen (Tuborg Haven). From 1980, the Swedish terminal was changed to Malmö. In 1981 Stella Scarlett was sold to Nordisk Faergefart A/S, Fåborg, for use on the Faaborg-Gelting route as Gelting Syd. The route was closed in 1999, following the end of on board duty free sales between EEC countries, and Gelting Syd was sold for use between Tangier and Cadiz (later Algeciras-Tangier).
