	The Supertram, officially called the Stagecoach Supertram, is a light rail tram system in the City of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. It is owned by the South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE), who own the infrastructure, and Stagecoach who operate and maintain the vehicles. Following a parliamentary act in 1985 authorising the scheme, the system was built by SYPTE at a cost of £240 million, and opened in stages between 1994 and 1995. It was initially operated by South Yorkshire Supertram Ltd (SYSL), a wholly owned subsidiary company of SYPTE. After lower than expected passenger revenue, SYSL was sold to Stagecoach for £1.15 million at the end of 1997. With the sale of SYSL, Stagecoach gained the concession to maintain and operate the Supertram trams until 2024. Launched in an initial light grey livery, following the takeover by Stagecoach the trams wore the Stagecoach corporate livery from 1997. From 2006 the trams were refurbished, and a new dedicated Supertram blue based livery was launched, rolled out by 2008. Ticketing is integrated with the Stagecoach Sheffield bus operations, purchased by Stagecoach in 2005

Sheffield Supertram operates 25 trams, numbered 101–125 (originally 01–25). The trams were built by Düwag, Germany (now part of Siemens). The units have three articulated sections with a total length of 35m (114ft). There are four powered bogies - one under each outer section and two under the centre section. The centre section has no doors, and is high-floor: Low-floor access is confined to the middle of the two outer sections, next to the doors. The top speed is 50mph.

The current livery, the fourth to be worn by the fleet, is a variant of Stagecoach group's railway livery. This features a dark blue base with orange doors; most of the front is red , separated from the blue with an orange band. Originally trams sported a two-tone grey colour-scheme, which was replaced by a version of the white-based Stagecoach bus livery. This was later refined with the addition of an Oxford Blue skirt. In 2012 tram 111 was wearing East Midlands Railways advertising livery and 120 had a special blue and cream heritage livery.

Trams were originally fitted with destination blinds at each end, with a coloured blind on the left indicating which line the tram is operating on (Blue, Yellow or Purple), and on the right a blind showing the destination. These have been replaced by electronic dot-matrix indicators, which relay the same information, and are supplemented by smaller side indicators.

The system uses 750vDC overhead power supply with single wire pantograph current collection.
