	This page is one of a series showing images from a 10 night 'Christmas Markets' cruise from Southampton in December 2012. This cruise achieved notoriety in the press and on TV for the incidence of norovirus on board. This had very little affect on us. Cases were reported within hours of boarding so were brought on from outside. Virus infection rates were up 70% throughout the country with many hospitals, hotels and even the New Zealand All Blacks being affected. One person on our table was ill for a couple of days but we were fine. The Conservatory was closed through most of the trip (which we rarely use), but this did put pressure on the dining saloons and room service. The Al Fresco pizzeria was also closed and used as an additional room service preparation area. Inevitably a selfless lawyer put himself forward to run a class action against the company. A storm in a teacup. The weather did disrupt things however, due to winds affecting our arrival and departure from Amsterdam when the local pilots refused passage through the locks at Ijmuiden. We lost most of the day in both Amsterdam and Copenhagen, but not exactly unusual conditions for December and we could not complain overall. Sea conditions were very calm throughout, despite Force 6 and 7 winds at times. This was our first cruise on an adults only ship of P&O (or any other company). I was not impressed with this setup since there were virtually no passengers under 50 on the ship. The presence of children has very rarely bothered me since we frequent different areas of the ship and they bring their younger adult parents onto the ship who have yet to develop Daily Mail worldviews.
