Cobelfret
Page 2: 2000-

This page is still under construction!

This page is devoted to postcards and photographs of Belgian ro-ro operators Cobelfret. The page shows ships used from 2000. Cobelfret - Page 1 shows ships used before 2000. In 2006, Cobelfret took over the routes, terminals and ships of Dart Line.

In June 2007, Cobelfret announced that they had bought Ferryways. The takeover was messy, and Ferryways later filed for bankruptcy. Cobelfret soon started routes from Oostende to the Thames and Humber using their own tonnage. A third route was later started to Harwich (in place of Ipswich), although it was later announced that it would revert to Ipswich.

An alphabetical list of ships shown on this page is shown below. The Table beneath gives links to complete history pages on selected individual ships. Below the table is a Fleet List in chronological order.

Ipswich Way was built in 1980 as Balder Dona by Karlskronavarvet AB for Engström & Larson. She was initially chartered out for work in the Caribbean. In 1984 she was sold to Dag Engström Rederi A/B and renamed Rodona. From 1987 Rodona was chartered to Cobelfret/Ford for services from Zeebrugge to Dagenham and Purfleet. Between 1999 and 2002 she was chartered to P&O North Sea Ferries for service between Zeebrugge and Felixstowe. She was then chartered to Ferryways for their Oostende-Ipswich service. Ferryways bought her in 2003 and renamed her Ipswich Way. In 2007 Ipswich Way passed to Cobelfret when Ferryways were taken over.
