Ferryways
2001-2007

This page is devoted to postcards and photographs of ro-ro operators Ferryways, in which MSC had a major stake. They operated routes from Oostende to Tilbury, Ispwich and Killingholme. An alphabetical list of ships shown on this page is shown below. The Table beneath gives links to complete history pages on selected individual ships. Below the table is a Fleet List in chronological order.

In June 2007, Ferryways announced that they had been bought by Cobelfret. The takeover was messy, and Ferryways later filed for bankruptcy. Cobelfret soon started routes from Oostende to the Thames and Humber using their own tonnage. A third route was later started to Harwich (in place of Ipswich).

Gabriele Wehr (2000-2001, chartered)
Flanders Way (2001-2007)

Flanders Way was built as the Gabriele Wehr by Rickmers Werft, Bremerhaven, for Oscar Wehr Transport, Hamburg, in 1978. She ran for them between Europe and West Africa for just a couple of months before beginning a long history of short charters to Hanse Ferries, North Sea Ferries, Lübeck Line, Tor Line, Kent Line, Brittany Ferries, P&O Ferries, Sally Line and finally Ferryways in 2000, who bought her the following year and renamed her Flander Way. She retained her name for most of the charters, apart from brief periods as Tor Anglia in 1982 and Sari in 1992/93. Flanders Way passed to Cobelfret in 2007.
