	On Sunday Azura arrived at Cobh at 8am. The weather was dreadful, with sea mist and alternating horizontal drizzle and torrential rain. I have spent many days in Cork and Cobh in similar conditions in the last 40 or so years, and so I did not expect it to change. I was not disappointed. We caught a train into Cork city, but nothing was due to open until well after noon on a Sunday so we headed back to Cobh. The Cathedral there is very impressive, designed by Pugin and completed in 1915 after 47 years of construction. Marine transport services have run small passenger boats and work boats at Cobh for many years. Bryan J runs one hour harbour tours at 12, 2, 3 and 4pm in June, July and August, subject to weather. Amazingly the 12pm trip actually ran with a half dozen passengers. I did not see any later trips set off which was not surprising since Spike Island was hidden by the rain and mist for much of the day. I photographed the lighthouse at the harbour entrance on our departure, mainly to show the appalling conditions. When young, I watched the Statendam and Nieuw Amsterdam call here on a sunny day in the 1960s, one of their last visits. I will scan the slides and add them soon.
