This is one of a series devoted to postcarand photographs of the Norwegian Coastal Express (Hurtigruten). This page covers the third generation of post-war motorships built in the 1950s and 1960s, the last of which,
Lofoten
, remains in service as a reserve ship in 2005.

all their vessels
Gann.
She was succeeded with them by the
Narvik
of 1982, also renamed
Gann

NFDS/TFDS: 1960-2001
Andrea
was built at Trondheim in 1960 as the
Harald Jarl
for TFDS service on the Norwegian Coastal Express (Hurtigruten). She operated on this service until 2002 when she was sold to
Elegant Cruises
and refitted as a luxury expedition cruise vessel

VDS/FFR/OVDS: 1964-2002
Lofoten
is owned by OVDS and is their extra ship. She runs on the service from November to March.
Lofoten
was built in 1964 and was originally owned by VDS (Vesterålen Dampskipsselskap) and secondly by FFR (Finnmark Fylkes Rederi). In 2007 she was the only ship in the1956-64 series to pass to the combined

ODS/OVDS: 1964-1996
Nordnorge (2)
was withdrawn in 1996 and became the Island Explorer cruising in the Maldives after a breif period as World Link. After further use as a diving shiop, she was broken up in Alang, India from November 2006
