NGV Liamone - Page 2 - Photographs

This page is devoted to photographs of the SNCM-Ferryterranee fast ferry NGV Liamone, all taken by Ian Boyle at Nice in July 2000. NGV Liamone is the first SNCM 'NGV3', delivered in May 2000, which operate at 42 knots compared to the 37 knots of the first two NGVs Asco & Aliso. She is also longer, at 134 metres (compared to 102 metres) and carries 1116 passengers and 250 cars, compared to 561 passengers and 148 cars respectively. The 26000kW power of the first two ships is more than doubled to 63000kW, which is also 50% more than the largest SNCM conventional ferry, the Napoleon Bonaparte. NGV Liamone had not received her final funnel casing at the time of photography, so the metal exhaust stacks will not be so prominent in the future. She operates from French ports of Nice and Toulon to the Corsican ports Ile Rousse, Calvi, Ajaccio, Bastia and Propriano.
