(8205 grt). The card was posted from the Canal Zone to the USA in August 1926. Note the name of the ship and home port Amsterdam in large letters on the ship's side. This ship had a sister,

, in the fleet 1910-1930.

Built in 1914,
Prins Der Nederlanden
(9448 grt) was sold to Lloyd Triestino in 1935. She was scuttled as a blockship in Marseille in 1944.

Pieter Corneliszoon Hooft 1926-1932
Delivery of
Pieter Corneliszoon Hooft
(14642 grt) was delayed following a fire that destroyed most of the passenger accommodation. A second fire destroyed the ship in 1932. She was powered by Sulzer diesels of 10500hp, replaced by more powerful Sulzers of 14500hp in 1931.

Christiaan Huygens
(15637 grt) was slightly larger version of the
Pieter Corneliszoon Hooft,
given a short, fashionable, motorship funnel. She served the Amsterdam-Batavia route until WW2, when she was operated by the Orient Line as a troopship until hitting a mine in 1945.

Johan van Oldenbarnevelt 1930-1963
Johann van Oldenbarnevelt
operated on the Amsterdam-East Indies service until used as a troopship during WW2. Returned to Amsterdam-Indonesia service in 1946. refitted 1959 for round-the world service with new funnel tops, but sold in 1963 to the
Greek Line
as
Lakonia
. destroyed by fire the same year.
