Mordechai Mano was born in Thessaloniki , Greece, in 1923, and emigrated to Israel in 1932. He started a shipping company in Haifa in 1945. His son Moshe Mano later formed Mano Maritime Ltd, now part of Mano Holdings, which has wide interests in shipping and tourism. Managed ships include bulk carriers, ro-ro and tankers, in addition to the fleet of passenger cruise ships on this page. In late 2006 the cruise fleet consisted of The Iris and Royal Iris. In 2003 she passed to Star Vegas Travel & Resorts and was renamed Nandini and then Olviava. In 2004 she became the Ocean Princess of Ocean Princess Shipping. The Iris
(Mano Cruise: 2000- )

The Iris was built in 1982 as the Konstantin Simonov, one of a series of seven similar ships used by the Black Sea Shipping Company as ferries and passenger/cruise ships. Konstantin Simonov ran as a ferry between Leningrad, Riga and Helsinki. In 1992 the route was taken over by Baltic Line, part of the Effjohn Group. In 1996 Konstantin Simonov was renamed Francesca for Australian service, but this fell through and she was laid up in Germany. In 2000 she was acquired by Silver Cruises for operation with Mano Cruise. The Jasmine was another of the same series of Soviet ships.

The Jasmine
(Mano Cruise: 2001-2006)

The Jasmine was built in 1981 as the Lev Tolstoy, one of a series of seven similar ships used by the Black Sea Shipping Company as ferries and passenger/cruise ships. Lev Tolstoy received a major rebuild in 1986 in Germany and was chartered to German operator Transocean Tours. In 1988 she was renamed Natasha and then Palmira for further German charters. She passed to Mano Cruise in 2001 as The Jasmine. The Jasmine was sold in August 2006 and was renamed Farah, believed for trading in the Far East.

Royal Iris
(Mano Cruise: 2004- )

Eagle entered service in 1971 on a new cruise ferry service from Southampton to Lisbon and Tangier for Southern Ferries. Southern Ferries were part of the General Steam Navigation Co (in turn a subsidiary of P&O). In 1975 she was sold to Nouvelle Cie. de Paquebots, Marseille (Paquet) and renamed Azur for ferry work and cruising in the Mediterranean. Azur was rebuilt as a fulltime cruise ship in 1981, with cabins added in the car decks. In 1987 she was sold to Chandris Lines, and re-named The Azur. In 1994, The Azur was sold to Festival Cruises, retaining her name. In 2004, Festival Cruises failed and The Azur was sold for $10.5 million to an unknown operator, being renamed the Eloise. In 2005 she is sailing for Mano Cruise from Israel as the Royal Iris.
