Bolero was built in 1973 for a consortium including Lion Ferry by Dubegion-Normandie S.A. Prairie au doc, Nantes. She is a near sister ship of Southern Ferries' Eagle and the Massalia of Paquet. Bolero was delivered to Fred Olsen on 15th February 1973, and was immediately chartered to Prinz Ferries for two months, for routes from Harwich to Hamburg and Bremerhaven (Prinz Ferries was a company associated with Lion Ferry).

Bolero then operated for Lion Ferry as Prince of Fundy II in the summers of 1973-76 between Portland, Maine, USA and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. During the winters she cruised for Commodore Cruise Lines, in which Lion Ferry also had interests. From 1976-78 Bolero was chartered to Bergen Line on the route Bergen/Stavanger/Kristiansand-Newcastle. From 1978-78 Bolero was chartered to Stena Line as Scandinavica, operating on routes Göteborg-Kiel, Kiel-Korsör and Göteborg-Frederikshavn. In 1980 there were discussions about chartering the ship to Brittany Ferries as the Tregor, but the deal fell through.
From 1981-91 operated as Bolero for Fred Olsen on North Sea services on routes Kristiansand-Frederikshavn, Kristiansand-Hirtshals and Hirtshals-Stavanger-Bergen. In 1984 Bolero started on the Harwich-Kristiansand route. Through the summer on 1985, Bolero was chartered to Oy Vasabåtarna Ab, for service between Sundsvall-Vasa, afterwards returning to Fred Olsen services.

In 1991 Bolero passed to Color Line as the Jupiter, operating between Kristiansand-Hirtshals and Oslo-Hirtshals until 1994. During the summer of 1994, Jupiter was chartered to Viking Line for the Kapellskär-Mariehamn-Nådendal route. She has since served as the Crucero Express, Seminole Express and Magic I. Bought by Caspi Shipping in 1999, she received the name Magic I. She was chartered to Magic Cruise Lines for services out of Haifa. In 2003 she was cahrtered to US company Ocean Club Cruises and renamed Mirage for service between Port Canaveral and the Bahamas. In 2004, Mirage was laid up, and later sold at auction to Isramco Inc, Nassau. In 2005 she reappeared as Magic I again, sailing on 3 & 4 night cruises to Turkey, Greece and Cyprus from Ashdod in Israel.
