MV Balmoral - 2007 Photographs - Page 4: July 5th/6th 2007

This page is one of a series devoted to photographs, taken on the Thames in 2007, of the Waverley Excursions motor vessel Balmoral.

On Monday July 2nd, Balmoral had been due to sail from Tilbury, Southend and Clacton for a River Blackwater cruise, but she did not reach Clacton. On Tuesday 3rd July she sailed from Ipswich, Harwich and Brightlingsea to Tower Pier. The following day, Balmoral was due to sail from Tilbury and Southend to Folkestone, combined with a visit to the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway. However, the weather forced her to do a Medway cruise after leaving Southend, with a call at Whitstable and return to Southend. She was therefore not in Folkestone for the planned cruise to Ramsgate and Tower Pier on the 5th July. Instead, the cruise started at Whitstable at about 4:30 after passengers had been bussed from Folkestone and Ramsgate. On Friday 6th July the winds picked up even more, and Balmoral's cruise was cancelled altogether. She had been due to sail from Tower Pier to Tilbury, Southend and Margate (for a cruise to North Foreland) with a return as far as Tilbury. In the event, she just sailed light to Tilbury.
