This is one of a series of pages devoted to postcards and photographs of Azienda del Consorzio Trasporti Veneziano (Actv), who run public transport in Venice. This page covers the navi traghetto - car ferries linking some of the larger islands to the mainland.

 

The waterborne fleet of Actv is composed of about 152 craft and approximately a hundred pontoon boarding points. In detail, the types of craft in the fleet are vaporetti (larger water buses - 58 units), motoscafi (smaller water buses - 49 units), motoscafi ad agente unico (single-agent water buses - 10 units), motobattelli foranei (offshore motor-boats - 15 units), motonavi (foot-passenger ferries for carrying large numbers of passengers - 13 units) and navi traghetto (car ferries for vehicle transportation - 7 units).
