Marlines

These pages are devoted to postcards of Marlines. The Table below gives links to complete postcard history pages on selected individual ships. Below the table are official postcards of the fleet in alphabetical order.

Marlines S.A. was established in 1982. The first vessel managed by the company was the Lady M (ex-Ulster Prince of 1967). Marlines S.A. since then has operated more than 15 different vessels (although I have not traced them all), covering the whole of the Mediterranean Sea. Most of these vessels previously served in UK waters. The year 2000 fleet was listed as just the Countess M and Duchess M. Any help in supplying me with postcards of Lady M, Dame M or Grace M for sale or exchange would be greatly appreciated.

Marlines Fleet List

Baroness M

The ex-Lion of Burns & Laird, Normandy Ferries and P&O was purchased in 1985. She was chartered to British Channel Island Ferries as Portelet 1987-88. Baroness M disappeared from Marlines fleet lists between 1997 and 1998. In early 2001 she still retained the name Baroness M, under the ownership of Cammell Laird, but was not in service. A complete postcard history of Lion is available on this link.

Between 1987-88, Baroness M returned to UK waters as the Portelet, on charter to British Channel Island Ferries (BCIF) between Weymouth and the Channel Isles.

This is the official BCIF card of Portelet.

Lady M

Lady M was the first ship operated by Marlines, acquired in 1982. She was originally the Belfast SS Co car ferry Ulster Prince of 1967, sold when the Liverpool-Belfast service of P&O ceased in 1981. I do not have a card as Lady M, but her Liverpool-Belfast career is covered on this link. She later served with Hellenic Mediterranean Lines (HML).
