This page is one of a series of pages devoted to postcards and photographs of the General Steam Navigation Company (GSN). It covers the cargo and cargo-passenger vessels of GSN. Many of the classic GSN cargo-passenger ships from around the turn of the century are shown, but only a representative selection of later cargo-only vessels is illustrated so far.

Lapwing (1879-1911)
 
Photographic postcard of Lapwing.
 
 
 
 
 
Hirondelle (1890-1917)
 
Hirondelle. was built in 1890, and was used on the London-Bordeaux and Harwich-Hamburg routes. She was torpedoed and sunk in the Bay of Biscay in 1917.

Peregrine (2) (1892-1917)
 
Peregine (1) was built in 1891 and sold the same year to Howard Smith of Melbourne. Peregine (2) was built the following year, and served on the Harwich to hamburg and Rotterdam routes. She was wrecked in 1917 off the Essex coast.

Alouette (1894-1924)
 
Alouette was built as the Calvados for the London, Brighton & South Coast Railway in 1894. She was bought by GSN in 1901 and renamed Alouette. She was scrapped in 1924.

Drake (1) was built in 1908, but later renamed Wildrake. In 1914 she reverted to Drake (1), and was sunk by U-boat in 1917.
