Linjebuss Fleet List


Betula (1) (1955-1968)
Betula I (1968-1971)
 
Betula (1) was built in 1929 by the Caledon Shipbuilding & Engineering Co, Dundee, Scotland, as the Perch Rock of the Borough of Wallasey's Mersey ferry services. She was sold in 1953 to Svenska Sockerfabriks Ab, Malmö, and renamed Betula. She was used on a Mörbylånga-Bergkvara service. In 1954 Betula was chartered to Jörgen Jensen A/S (Skandinavisk Linietrafik) and used between Korsör-Nyborg and Juelsminde-Kalundborg, returning to Mörbylånga-Bergkvara briefly before being laid up in December 1954. During the summers of 1955, 1956 and 1957, Betula was chartered to Linjebuss International Ab (Rederi Ab Svea) for service between Helsingborg-Helsingør. She was not sold to Linjebuss until 1959. In 1968 she was renamed Betula I to release the name for the new Betula (2). Betula I was sold in 1971, and later received the name Bastian.

Pendula
(1958-1975)
 
Pendula was built in 1951 as the Gillöga for Waxholms Nya Ångfartygs Ab, and used on services out of Stockholm. She was bought by Linjebuss International Ab in 1958 and renamed Pendula. She started on the Helsingborg-Helsingør route, but later operated from Helsingborg to Sletten and Ven. She was sold in 1975, but initially remained on routes out of Helsingborg. Renamed Lovön, then Patronia, she worked out of Stockholm between 1976-1993, when she was sold to owners in Balestrand, Norway, but sank shortly afterwards.

Primula
(1960-1976)
 
Primula was built in 1960 for Linjebuss International (Stockholms Rederi Ab Svea). She operated on Helsingborg-Helsingør services until 1976 when she was sold to the Terschellinger Stoomboot Maatschappij, Holland, and renamed Noord Nederland for their Harlingen-Terschelling service. She was sold for further service in Nigeria in 1990.

Carola
(1964-1991)
 
Carola was built in 1964 by Öresundsvarvet Ab, Landskrona, for Linjebuss International AB (Stockholms Rederi Ab Svea). She is sistership to Dana Scarlett, built the same year. Carola operated between Helsingborg-Helsingør. Between 1965-1985, Carola also acted as the reserve ship for the Landskrona-Tuborg Havn route (Copenhagen) service of sister company Skandinavisk Linietrafik. In 1991 she passed to SweFerry Ab, but was sold soon afterwards to Argentinean owners and renamed Princess 1.

Betula (2)
(1968-1992)
 
Betula (2) was built by Meyer Werft, Germany, in 1968 for Scandinavian Ferry Lines' Linjebuss International service between Helsingør and Helsingborg. As built she was 2291 gross tons and carried 800 passengers. and 75 cars. The Linjebuss name was dropped in 1981, ownership then being Scandinavian Ferry Lines. Additional accommodation was added in 1985, increasing size to 2452 gross tons and capacity to 900 passengers and 105 cars. Betula had two sisters, the Regula of 1971, and the Ursula of 1973. In 1991, Betula passed to SweFerry, part of Scandlines. She did not receive the complete Scandlines livery (unlike her sisters), before sale to Lineas Fred.Olsen in 1992 for their Corralejo (Fuertaventura) to Playa Blanca (Lanzarote) service, and was renamed Buganvilla. Regula
(1971-1997)
 
Regula was built by Meyer Werft, Germany, in 1971 for Scandinavian Ferry Lines' Linjebuss International service between Helsingør and Helsingborg. The Linjebuss name was dropped in 1981, ownership then becoming Scandinavian Ferry Lines. Additional accommodation was added in 1985. Regula had two sisters, the Betula of 1968, and the Ursula of 1973. In 1991, Regula passed to SweFerry, part of Scandlines. She received the complete Scandlines livery (unlike her sister Betula), before sale to A/S Saaremaa Laevakompanii, Tallinn, Estonia in 1997 for their Virtsu - Kuivastu route. She remains in service in 2002.

Ursula
(1973-1997)
 
Ursula was built by Meyer Werft, Germany, in 1973 for Scandinavian Ferry Lines' Linjebuss International service between Helsingør and Helsingborg. The Linjebuss name was dropped in 1981, ownership then becoming Scandinavian Ferry Lines. Additional accommodation was added in 1985. Ursula had two sisters, the Betula of 1968, and the Regula of 1971. In 1991, Ursula passed to SweFerry, part of Scandlines. She received the complete Scandlines livery (unlike her sister Betula), before sale in 1997 to Maritima Chan Kenab S.A. de C.V. Cozumel, Mexico, for a service between Yucatan-Cozumel as Cozumel II. Cozumel II ran aground off Chinchorro Bank on trip to Belize in 2005 and was lost. The remains were removed from the reef in 2010.

Dana Scarlett
(1975-1985)
 
Dana Scarlett was built in 1964 by Öresundsvarvet Ab, Landskrona, for Scandinavisk Linietrafik (Stockholms Rederi Ab Svea). She is sistership to Carola, delivered later the same year. Dana Scarlett operated on the Landskrona-Tuborg Havn route (Copenhagen) service of Scandinavisk Linietrafik. She also acted as reserve ship on the Helsingborg-Helsingør route until 1975, when she was transferred permanently. In 1985 she was sold to till L-T Linjen, Landskrona for service with Scarlett Line, on her original Landskrona-Tuborg Havn route. In 1994 she was sold to Argentinean owners, and moved to Fiji two years later.
