Eastern Princess
Yarmouth-based Fairmile 'B' Class Launches
This page is devoted to postcards and photographs of the ex-Royal Navy Fairmile 'B' launches
Golden Galleon (ML162)
and
Eastern Princess (ML347)
, both based in Great Yarmouth for excursions.
Golden Galleon
(John E.Knight) regularly cruised both on the Norfolk Broads and on sea trips, whereas I believe
Eastern Princess
(Southern coastcraft) tended to do harbour tours and sea trips to Scroby Sands to see the seal colony.
In 2006, I photographed
Golden Galleon
moored near
Reedham
in poor condition. Despite efforts to save her, she was deemed a positional navigation hazard and was scrapped a couple of months after the images below were taken.
By 2007 there were only four surviving Fairmile 'B' launches in the UK:-
Western Lady I (RML535)
- Private ownership (ex-Torbay)
The Fairmile
(ex-Western Lady III (RML497))
- Torbay/Dart excursions with
Greenway Ferry
Western Lady IV (RML526)
- Private ownership (ex-Torbay)
Jamaican Moon (ML357)
- House boat in St Osyth
See
www.fairmileclassiccruises.co.uk
for details of sailings on
Western Lady III
- in 2007 the only Fairmile still in public service. The
Fairmile 'B' Header Page
lists other Fairmiles illustrated on this website.
