was built by Fincantieri-Cant. Nav. Italiani S.p.A., Ancona for Société Nationale Maritime Corse Mediterranee (SNCM). She was delivered in June 2002, entering service between Marseille and Corsica the following month.
Danielle Casanova
had been intended to be named the
Mediterranée
, but was renamed shortly before delivery due to pressure from Corsica. The previous
Danielle Casanova
of 1989 was renamed
Mediterranée
to free the name.
