Anna Nery

Anna Nery - Danaos - Constellation - Morning Star - Regent Spirit - Salamis Glory

This page is devoted to postcards and photographs of the Brazilian liner Anna Nery. She was one of two sisters built in Yugoslavia, the other being Rosa da Fonseca.

Anna Nery was built in Yugoslavia in 1962 for Companhia Nacional de Navegacao Costeira Antarquia and used on the Brazilian coastal route, and also cruises. At the same time, two smaller ships were built in Spain, the Princesa Leopoldina and Princesa Isabel. In 1966 Anna Nery passed to Lloyd Brasileiro, who ran her until 1977 when she was laid up. The following year she was sold to Kavounides and renamed Danaos and then Constellation. Kavounides failed in 1987, and Constellation was repossessed by the bank. After four years laid up, she served briefly as Morning Star in the Far East, before joining Regency Cruises as Regent Spirit. Regency Cruises in turn failed in 1995, and Regent Spirit passed to Salamis Cruise Lines in 1996 as Salamis Glory, with whom she remained in service in 2005. She runs short cruises from Cyprus.
