Coast Lines Fleet Pictures

The following postcard, one of my favourites, shows a selection of the Coast Lines fleet in the late 1950s, when passenger services were run by the sturdy fleet of 'standard' Harland & Wolff motorships. The complete fleet at this time totaled over 80 vessels. I wonder if this painting was also used as a poster on railway stations, since similar posters existed showing the British Railways shipping fleet and their locomotives. The key to ship names and operating companies is shown below. The ships are numbered 1-31 from the top left.

The Early 1960s Fleet
This second postcard shows the fleet a few years later than the one above, since the 1960 St Clair of the "North Company" has been added. Three additional companies are added to the card above, Link Line, William Sloan and the aforementioned North Company. The North Company had been taken over in 1961. This scan was supplied by Alain Skelding, to whom many thanks. The key to ship names and operating companies is shown below. The ships are again numbered 1-33 from the top left.
