A´rosa was created by P&O Princess as an upmarket version of Aida for the German market. Initially, Crown Princess was transferred as the Arosa Blu. In a move to consolidate its German cruise business, Carnival Corporation announced in September 2003 that it was selling the river cruise business under the A´rosa trademark, to German travel operator Arkona. At the same time, Carnival places the Arosa Blu in the Aida-fleet as the AIDAblu.
